Anyway, it's a new day in our life, Sept 19, 2013. Maya's first day at Kindergarden. Mommy wakes up Maya at 7am. We eat breakfast, brush teeth, change clothes, and finish all the other chores around 7:30am. Then the four of us get out of the door and walk eight or nine minutes to Farnham School. A lot of parents and their kids in the neighborhood are heading the same direction. We arrive at the school, say hi to Maya's teacher, Mr. Dinh, who's been with the school for two years and has come from architecture and construction. There'll be 27 students in Maya's class, a good mix of races. We follow Mr. Dinh to Maya's classroom, Classroom 1, find Maya's bin and desk. After Maya and her classmates sit down on the rainbow carpet, we kiss her goodbye and wish her a good day (her class ends at 11:30am the first three weeks, then it'll end at 2pm after that.) The following one hour we are at the orientation with the Principle in a big classroom. It looks like that parents are very involved in the school with all kinds of activities and fundraising.

Maya gets off at 11:30am. It's a bit chaotic when parents try to pick up their kids. Maya is so hungry when she gets home that she eats two sandwiches and some cucumbers and tomatoes.
When asked if she likes kindergarden or preschool better, Maya replies: "Kindergarden!" because "there's no circle time and no nap at kindergarden."
