In 1st gear - now with video
Ok, it's not easy to get Maya to crawl on command but here is a little look at her new skills. First a short crawl, loses focus and heads for the fireplace, mommy regains focus with a swift kick to the cube and half way through the video she takes a few "steps" forward to grab her beloved cube. Not bad for being so new at the crawling game. :-) Did I mention that dad is really proud, happy and excited? So is mom by the way but she is generally a bit more level-headed than dad when it comes to Maya.

Back in town
Dad is back in town and survived the trip (despite swine flu and a wicked night out with Hakan in Shanghai)
It was great to see Maya again. Amazing how much change in just a few days.

Was it an accident? or..... Now with video
or was it on purpose?
We had our first roll-over earlier this week. Daddy was the only one there to witness it so no one believed me. But I can tell you it was a perfect one, smooth and controlled!
Then yesterday waipo reported another roll-over and finally the whole family started believing me.
Today, Maya has been rolling over like a champ. I think we are up to five rolls and it's not even lunch yet! She looks so funny. She has figured out that if she throws her head over to the side she will roll over. So she throws her head over and waits for the roll but forgets to coordinate with arms and legs. It takes her a few tries to get all the body parts to cooperate and the she rolls over with a big smile.
Video now uploaded. Please be forewarned...this is the full length version for the grand parents and all other viewers will probably fall asleep.

Baby laughter, music to our ears.
We had a busy Sunday with visits from lots of friends. It's not easy trying to keep your social life going while trying to keep Maya safe from the terrible flu germs out there in the big dangerous world. It's funny how you turn into exactly the type of parent that you previously were snickering at for taking billions of pictures of their little baby, for squirting antibacterial cream in your hands before even entering their home and for thinking their baby is the most wondrous little thing in the world (they are all the same to you). We can now proudly admit that we are exactly like that, overprotective germ freaks with obsessive photography ambitions that think Maya is the cutest most wonderful miracle this world has seen. And I truly mean that, without even a hint of sarcasm.
But I digress again...as I said, it was great to see our friends and I'll follow up with some pictures of Maya with her little friend Nuria.
On to the topic of the day, laughter. Maya laughed for the first time yesterday!! It's not yet a full on screaming baby laughter but definitely a laughter. She thinks daddy is really funny and I better take advantage of it while it lasts. Without further ado, the video:

Maya video
First video posting of Maya with our new video camera. Managed to capture a little smile, a sneeze and a little cooing.
